What a workation home needs

• Stable Wi-Fi and at least one quiet workspace with daylight.
• Rooms to retreat to – essential when two people work in parallel or children come along.
• A proper kitchen so everyday life does not turn into a restaurant marathon.
• A real end-of-day place: garden, fireplace or sauna instead of a hotel lobby.

The best time for longer stays

October to March is ideal: a quiet island, good availability and off-season rates from €290 per night (from 2027: €300). For stays of two to four weeks this is often cheaper per person and day than a hotel room – and you have an entire house.

A realistic workation day in Wenningstedt

• 7:30 – coffee, a look into the garden, first emails in peace.
• 9:00–13:00 – focus block at the dining table or in the quiet upstairs room.
• 13:00 – lunch break on the beach, in summer in your own beach chair at Onkel Johnny's.
• 14:30–18:00 – calls and coordination.
• From 18:00 – sauna, cooking, sunset at the cliff line.

Practical tips

• Plan mobile data as a backup – LTE/5G coverage on the island is good.
• Bring rain gear; then any weather becomes a break rather than an obstacle.
• Deliberately schedule meetings in the morning and keep afternoons for island time.
• For stays of several weeks, ask about long-stay conditions.
